Opening a Bitget account has two parts: signing up, which is free and needs no documents, and identity verification (KYC), which needs an ID and a selfie. Here are both, based on Bitget's official guides checked on November 3, 2026.
Opening an account? Jump to the link and invite code ↓
Part 1: create the account
1. On Bitget's official website, click Sign Up in the top-right corner. 2. Choose email or phone number. If you use a phone, enter it without the country code. You can also sign up with Google, Telegram or a wallet. 3. If you have a referral code, enter it in the referral code field. It is optional, so it is easy to miss. 4. Read the User Agreement and Privacy Policy, tick the box and click Next. 5. Set a password of 8 to 32 characters with at least one number, one uppercase letter and one special character. 6. Solve the captcha puzzle and enter the 6-digit code sent to your email or phone.
If the code does not arrive, check your spam folder and make sure the email or number is correct.
After signing up, Bitget recommends turning on two-factor authentication (2FA) in the Security section of your profile. Do it before you deposit.
The referral code goes in at sign-up
Bitget does not clearly document whether you can add a code after creating the account. If you want the referral rewards, enter it at step 3. We explain what the code gets you in Bitget Referral Code.
Part 2: verify your identity (KYC)
According to Bitget, verification gives you access to all of its services, such as deposits, withdrawals and trading.
On the website:
1. Log in, click the profile icon in the top-right corner and choose Identity Verification. 2. Under Individual Verification, click Verify. 3. Choose your country of residence, the country that issued your ID and the ID type. Accepted documents vary by country. 4. Enter your full name exactly as it appears on your ID. 5. Scan the QR code with your phone and take photos of your document. 6. Complete the face check and submit. The status changes to Under Review.
In the app: tap Verify on the home screen, or open the account center and tap Unverified. The steps are the same from there.
How to avoid a rejection
- Clear photos of your ID with no corners cut off.
- Your name typed exactly as on the ID. A middle name goes after your first name.
- For the selfie: plain white background, good light from the front with nothing bright behind you, no hat, glasses or accessories, and your face centered.
- You may be asked to turn your head or blink. Follow the on-screen prompts.
How long it takes
Bitget says it usually takes 1 business day and that you get an email when it is approved or if more information is needed. If it takes longer than 1 business day, you can open a support ticket with your UID.
If it is rejected, the email gives the reason. Fix that and submit again.
