Minimum leverage if your whole balance is margin
Estimate excluding slippage and funding. In fast markets a stop can fill worse than the price you set.
How it is calculated
- Risk = balance × risk per trade. Many traders use between 0.5% and 2%.
- Loss per unit = |entry − stop| + fee × (entry + stop).
- Quantity = risk ÷ loss per unit. Position size = quantity × entry.
- Leverage only changes how much margin you lock up, not how much you lose if the stop is hit. Your loss is set by the size and the distance to the stop.
Check that your stop sits before the liquidation price with the liquidation price calculator, and work out the profit at your target with the futures PnL calculator.
